This one ingredient may be the cause of your weight loss stall

In this episode of the gastric health show, we discuss how a common “healthy” ingredient found in protein shakes, protein bars, drink mixes,  and yogurts can interfere with weight loss and cause you to stall.

Unfortunately, most patients are completely unaware of the dangers artificial sweeteners present gastric bypass and gastric sleeve patients. This one ingredient has been proven to grow bad gut bacteria, slow your metabolism and become highly addictive by rewiring your brain chemistry.

Artificial sweeteners can create a stall by decreasing metabolism and increasing hunger

Many WLS patients feel guilty when they “fall off the wagon” and consume foods they know they shouldn’t. But, as you can read in this study…..

“Artificial sweeteners appear to stimulate food intake by reducing the ability to compensate for energy provided by caloric sweeteners in the diet.”(4)

Which leaves the question……“Are artificial sweeteners to blame for your stall?”

Consumption of artificial sweeteners leads to 14% more body fat

Artificial sweeteners are linked to obesity in human, animal, experimental, and population studies.  In fact,

The San Antonio Heart Study the participants who were normal weight or overweight at baseline, risk of weight gain and obesity were significantly greater in those consuming artificially sweetened beverages compared with those who did not.(4)

Artificial sweeteners are highly addictive

Artificial sweeteners have been proven to be highly addictive. This study demonstrated that….

“Intense sweetness can surpass cocaine reward, even in drug-sensitized and addicted individuals”(5).

I loved the recipes… easy and my husband loved them, as did I. I felt full and satisfied. I have not had a low blood sugar since following your 10 Day Back on Track Class Meal Plan and that was my goal.

Plus, the loss of 4 pounds was an added bonus. Looking back I realize I was not eating the right foods therefore I was having low blood sugars. I have a whole new way of thinking when it comes to eating thanks to the Gastric Health Club and to you Dawn! Thanks!!
