In this episode of the gastric health show, we discuss how certain foods have the ability to provide more fullness and help you overcome hunger faster.
Artificial sweeteners increase your appetite and make you more hungry
Artificial sweeteners in food and beverages are counter intuitive to providing fullness. They actually cause an increased desire for sweet foods. As found in this study,
“The discovery that intense sweetness takes precedence over cocaine, one of the most addictive and harmful substance currently known, suggest that highly sweetened beverages such as those widely available in modern human societies, may function as a super-normal stimuli.”(7)
Your hunger hormones may not be the reason you are hungry
When dealing with an out of control desire for certain foods, many believed that Ghrelin, our hunger hormone, potentially could be the cause. We discuss how this study was able to prove
“Ghrelin levels do not appear to correlate with weight change after Roux-en-y gastric bypass”(4)
Gut bacteria could be to blame for increases in hunger
Gut bacteria regulate metabolic pathways and modulate the physiological state of hunger or satiety. So growing and protecting your gut bacteria is important to controlling hunger.

I loved the recipes… easy and my husband loved them, as did I. I felt full and satisfied. I have not had a low blood sugar since following your 10 Day Back on Track Class Meal Plan and that was my goal.
Plus, the loss of 4 pounds was an added bonus. Looking back I realize I was not eating the right foods therefore I was having low blood sugars. I have a whole new way of thinking when it comes to eating thanks to the Gastric Health Club and to you Dawn! Thanks!!
