The link between histamine & bloating

First off, it is unlikely many have heard of histamine.  Although when it comes to digestion, bloating and histamine go hand and hand.  Bloating is an uncomfortable symptom experienced by so many.  Yet complicated to identify the root cause.  In this episode we dig into how histamine causes bloating, helping you understand how your body manages this neurotransmitter.

What is histamine?

Histamine is a biochemical released by the mast cells of our immune system.  It’s necessary for proper immune function, therefore everyone manages histamine.  However, not everyone is aware of its powerful impact.

Signs of excess histamine

The symptoms of excess histamine is quite lengthy.  This podcast covers seventeen symptoms, but a few include:

  • headache/migraine
  • bloating/abdominal pain
  • flushing
  • insomnia
  • hives
  • congestion/sneezing

What causes histamine overload?

Histamine is all about your personal thresh hold.  Most importantly, learning what overflows your “histamine bucket” can help eliminate symptoms.  However, with histamine overload there are 4 things to consider:

  • genetics
  • hormones
  • gut imbalance
  • food

If you’re struggling with bloating

Are you struggling with bloating?  Have you explored histamine overload as a cause?  I would consider working with a functional nutrition professional to get to the root cause and leave no stone unturned.

I’d love to work with you too!  Check out my packages and schedule a time to chat.
