Why would someone not lose weight after WLS?
WLS is a powerful tool providing AMAZING results for so many. Uniquely, there are individuals that never obtain their idealized results they set for themselves. Some may find their expectations are unrealistic, but maybe they’ve missed the “less obvious” and “not so obvious” causes of weight loss resistance.
Obvious
There are of course very obvious reasons of why someone is not losing weight after WLS such as:
- Poor diet choices
- Eating too much food
- Not eating enough food
- Activity/Sedentary
Less Obvious
So many get stuck on the “obvious” causes and place blame on themselves or others for not attaining expected results. In reality there are factors that can impact one’s ability to optimize results after WLS. These include:
- Metabolic
- Thyroid
- Adrenals
- Stress
- Poor gut health
- Deficiencies
- Macro- protein, fat & carbohydrates
- Micro- vitamins and minerals
- Sleep
- Circadian rhythm
- Inflammation
Not So Obvious
